Coin of the Week Sept. 20th 2012

Welcome back to the Coin Mercantile Blog. This is the third edition of Coin of the Week here at Coin Mercantile.

This week's Coin of the Week comes from the Eastern European Nation of Belarus, where over 40% of the country is forests. Within these forests are many different types of wildlife. Which leads me to this weeks coin of the week.

The 2008 50 Rubles Lynx w/ Swarovski Diamond Eyes 1/4oz Gold Proof Coin was issued by the Bank of the Republic of Belarus.

The Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) is the biggest of the lynxes. It is native to European and Siberian forests.

During the summer, the Eurasian lynx has a relatively short, reddish or brown coat, which is replaced by a much thicker silver-grey to greyish-brown coat during winter. The lynx hunts by stalking and jumping its prey, helped by the rugged, forested country in which it resides. The cat will generally feed on small prey, such as, hares, rabbits, foxes, etc., and switch to larger prey only when food becomes scarce.

Each coin is struck by the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus from 1/4oz of .999 Pure Gold and is inlaid with two diamonds 1mm in size, SI Clarity with a very limited mintage of 2,000 pieces.

This coin is currently on sale from $658.98 to $558.98 for a limited time. Be sure to have a look at it and while you're at our site be sure to check out the New Coins and Sales sections.

This has been the third edition for the Coin of the Week Series, how are the readers enjoying it so far?
